A young surfer in Miami showcased her impressive skills by riding a boat's wake while wearing high heels. Yes, high heels. Balancing on towering stilettos, the surfer managed to maintain her poise and demonstrate her abilities without losing her cool. While it's unclear if this feat sets a new record or if others have attempted it before her, the video shared by Only in Dade has certainly captured the essence of having true flow on a surfboard.
Unique Displays of Miami's Surfing Culture
Miami is known for its eccentricities and its residents' love for showcasing them. In mid-June, a group of young surfers decided to take to the flooded streets of the city after heavy rains caused significant flooding. A video posted on the Instagram account of user "Miami Problems" depicted what appeared to be two teenagers surfing individually, pulled by a vehicle with friends cheering them on amid laughter.
Unexpected Ocean Encounters
In October 2021, American surfer Eli McDonald found himself unknowingly surrounded by sharks while resting on his board at a Florida beach. It was only through photos taken by his fiancée, Laura Evans, that he became aware of the terrifying scene. Despite feeling panicked, Evans continued to snap pictures of McDonald, who innocently smiled and waved his arms in the water, oblivious to the sharks leaping nearby.
Earlier that year, a Florida photographer unintentionally captured a breathtaking moment while taking photos of his son surfing. Rusty Escandell, 59, a resident of Satellite Beach in Brevard County, was spending the day with family and friends near Patrick Air Force Base. As he photographed his young son, he accidentally captured an incredible leap of a giant manta ray in the distance. It was much later that he realized the remarkable event he had documented.
