An elderly individual tragically lost their life this Friday in Camagüey after being hit by a truck while riding their bicycle. The unfortunate incident took place on a street in the Minas municipality.
Photos of the aftermath, showing the victim's body covered with a sheet next to their bicycle, were shared by Luis Ramon Susini, a member of the Facebook group "ACCIDENTES BUSES & CAMIONES por más experiencia y menos víctimas!" As of now, further details about the fatal accident have not been released.
In a related incident about two weeks ago, a cyclist was killed after being struck by a Soviet-made Moskvitch car on the bustling Calle Trocha in Santiago de Cuba. The victim, identified as Luis Enrique Monier Martínez, was rushed to the nearby Joaquín Castillo Duany Military Hospital. Unfortunately, due to severe head injuries, doctors had little hope for his recovery, and he passed away a few days later.
Earlier in August, another tragic accident in Bayamo claimed the life of cyclist Pablo Estrada, who was fatally struck by a truck on Vicente Quesada Street. The impact resulted in instant death.
In July, a woman sustained critical injuries when a tourist car collided with her bicycle on the Bayamo-Manzanillo highway. She was urgently taken to a Bayamo hospital, where she was reported to be in critical condition.
