Cuban reggaeton artist Jorge Junior Hernández Carvajal, the frontman of the group Los 4, has broken his silence regarding the controversial incident at Panama's airport last Wednesday, where he and his 21-year-old son, Jaide Hernández, were detained by security personnel. The musician took to Instagram to share his side of the story, claiming the treatment they received was degrading and the situation was handled unjustly.
In his post, Jorge Junior admitted to losing his temper at a certain point, explaining that his outburst was provoked. "It's true that I lost my temper, and I am guilty of reacting to an action," he wrote. He recounted that Cuban singer Tania Pantoja, who was on the same flight, witnessed the removal of him and his son from the plane under the pretense of a medical emergency, which he alleged was a mere excuse to strand them at the airport without any means of transport or accommodation.
Unjust Treatment in a Foreign Land
Jorge Junior further alleged that after they were taken off the plane, both he and his son were subjected to legal proceedings in Panama, during which they were treated "like murderers," according to his account. The experience was particularly distressing for them, as they found themselves in a foreign country without any support. "We were removed from the plane 'supposedly for my health,' to save my life, and what they did was leave us alone in an airport that isn't ours, without a flight or accommodation," he expressed.
The reggaeton star criticized the demeanor of certain airport officials, highlighting their lack of professionalism and courtesy towards passengers. He claimed to have attempted to remain calm and courteous before the situation escalated, but felt driven to act impulsively due to the behavior of the authorities.
Reflection and Gratitude
In his closing remarks, Jorge Junior reflected on the incident, expressing his belief in a higher power that witnessed the intentions of those who tried to wrong him. Despite everything, he expressed gratitude for being able to leave the situation freely alongside his son, viewing the ordeal as a reminder of the value of integrity and freedom. "That same God made you see your worth and made me see my worth, being a free man with my son, that's priceless. Enjoy the money," he concluded.
The incident has sparked a stir on social media, with fans and fellow artists voicing their support for Jorge Junior and his son, while questioning the actions of Panama airport officials and underscoring the importance of treating international travelers with dignity.
