Charly & Johayron Release "A Decade Later": A Song for Entitled Exes

Friday, November 1, 2024 by Charlotte Gomez

This Friday marks the release of Charly & Johayron's latest single, "A Decade Later," a track perfectly tailored for those exes who believe they have lifelong claims. The song is accompanied by a music video that takes viewers on a nostalgic journey through time, featuring the artists alongside a cast of models and dancers.

The video kicks off with a throwback to the 1950s, vividly brought to life through the period-appropriate makeup and costumes of the main characters. It then leaps forward to the 1980s and catapults into the year 2040, providing a glimpse of what the future might hold.

The lyrics deliver a bold message from ex-partners to current beaus: "I was, am, and will always be the love of your life with the right to come into your life 10 years later / I played dumb and never spoke, but now I see your boyfriend is pretending to be tough, playing a role / Who am I, what am I doing here, explain it to him, tell him yourself, so I don't have to challenge his masculinity, smother you with kisses, and drive you crazy."

Johayron stirred the pot on Instagram, asking, "Where are the brave ones who will tag their exes?" as he announced the song's debut. It's undoubtedly a track that many fans will want to dedicate. For now, enjoy the music video for "A Decade Later."
