Cuban Mother in the U.S. Asserts That Homemaking Is Exhausting: "No Breaks or Days Off"

Sunday, November 3, 2024 by Ethan Navarro

A Cuban woman residing in the United States has taken to TikTok to passionately defend the rigors of homemaking, expressing her frustration over the misconception that staying at home equates to doing nothing. "Every time I hear someone claim that being at home means doing nothing, it makes my blood boil," she declares in her video, where she showcases snippets of her daily responsibilities.

Identifying herself as @lil_liet on TikTok, she argues that those who hold such views have never experienced a full day of managing the endless domestic duties: organizing, cleaning, cooking, and handling the countless obligations that arise. "Being at home is the most relentless and exhausting job there is, and it's also the worst paid. There are no days off or rest," she insists.

The Endless Cycle of Household Chores

The woman describes how, upon waking, she already faces an overwhelming list of tasks: gathering laundry, washing dishes, and, just when it seems like the chores are done, new ones appear. For those who are mothers, the challenge only intensifies. "In that case, the workload triples. It's a juggling act," she says, referring to the responsibilities of entertaining children, preparing meals, and cleaning up the messes they leave behind. "And just when you think you're finished, they need something else," she adds.

A Challenge to the Skeptics

She emphatically invites those who underestimate her work to spend a day in her shoes to truly grasp its demands. "Being at home is the heaviest job, one that never ends, and although it might not be visible, it requires complete dedication every single day," concludes the Cuban woman, who has garnered the support of numerous users.
