In a recent TikTok video, a Cuban woman residing in the United States, known as @sheila_hdzz on the platform, expressed her frustration over the escalating cost of groceries. "Food is getting more expensive every day," she stated at the beginning of the video, showcasing her monthly shopping haul from a Costco store. She noted that her November purchase included several packages of chicken, shrimp, and pork, emphasizing that she hadn't bought anything extraordinary.
What particularly caught her attention was the price of eggs. "I paid 7 dollars for a pack of 24 eggs. They're good quality, but 7 dollars seems insane to me," she remarked in the video, urging other users to share what they're paying for egg packs in their areas.
Despite her shock, she acknowledged that in some parts of the United States, prices can be even higher, sparking a debate in the comments section where many users discussed how inflation impacts their daily lives.
This type of content has become increasingly common on social media, where residents from various U.S. cities highlight the surge in prices of basic goods. In response to the Cuban woman's observations, some users commented: "I spend over 200 weekly, so it's between 800 and almost 1000 a month for just two of us," "Yes, it's very expensive, super expensive, the food at Costco; but there are other options, other markets. In the end, it's nothing special, just higher-priced because of the market category," "In Miami, for four people, nearly 1000 a month," "I buy a 24-pack of eggs for $12, but they're the best," "500 or more, haha. That Costco scares me every time I go, haha," and "Incredible. I buy a lot at Costco, and I think I'm going to cut back on meat purchases there because it's impossible."
