The Cuban TikToker Sheyla (@sheyreyes03) recently went on vacation, renting a coastal house in Cuba for 25,000 pesos to enjoy a three-day retreat with her family. Her video, which has quickly gained attention online, showcases the details of the property, which she describes as "quite spacious and roomy." Despite its simplicity, Sheyla highlights the house's equipped kitchen, multiple bedrooms, a clean bathroom with a heater, a broad terrace, and even a small pool.
"We spent 25,000 pesos for three days in this coastal house," Sheyla explained as she provided a tour of the home. She mentioned that they had to bring some personal items, including sheets, a blender, pots, and a fan, but noted that “they provide a freezer and everything else.”
The reactions from her followers ranged from surprise to criticism over the cost and the house's conditions. International viewers expressed shock, with comments like, "Wow, in Venezuela, we're still pretty wealthy"; "I see we're millionaires here in the Dominican Republic"; and "In Maracaibo, we are rich." A follower from the U.S. also remarked, "It's not pretty, but the important thing is that you spent time with family and had fun."
However, some were more critical of the house and its price, with comments such as “Not sure if this is real or a joke”; “That’s a disaster, my goodness”; and “God... what a horror... it gives me something.” Some took it humorously: “To go on vacation and bring half my house to another house, I’d rather stay home”; "Mosquitoes on your chest and bedbugs in the mattresses"; and "That electric shower with those wires... 220 volts."
Despite the criticism, some followers defended Sheyla's experience. "If she likes it and had a good time, that’s what matters. Not everyone lives in luxury or can go to a 5-star hotel"; “To those criticizing, that's Cuba, and life there is enjoyed with what you have"; and "The important thing is being with family. I wish I could be with mine."
There were also discussions about the cost. One person estimated, “That’s about 76 dollars. When I left Cuba, the dollar was 24 pesos”; while another said, “If it’s a thousand dollars, no way,” and someone from Florida added, “With 1,000 dollars in Florida, you can rent a similar place for 3 days.”
Ultimately, many followers appreciated that Sheyla could spend time with her family, considering it the most significant aspect. Her pet, Naty, also became a highlight of the video, with viewers commenting: “The cutest part of the video was Naty.”
