Effective from 5:00 p.m. this Tuesday, the Cuban Civil Defense General Staff has declared an alert phase for the provinces of Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, and Sancti Spíritus due to the potential direct impact of Tropical Storm Rafael.
According to the third informational note released on social media platform X, earlier this morning, Tropical Storm Rafael has displayed improved organization, although its intensity remains largely unchanged. The storm has been progressing northwest at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.
Rainfall, showers, and thunderstorms have intensified in the eastern and central regions, and some areas could experience severe and heavy rain. These weather conditions are expected to move progressively towards the western and central parts of Cuba as the day and night unfold.
Monitoring and Precautionary Measures
Provinces currently under the Informative Phase should continue to closely monitor weather conditions and, based on their specific circumstances, implement necessary measures to ensure the safety of individuals and resources.
The public is urged to stay informed through national, provincial, and municipal media outlets, as well as official social media profiles, and to strictly adhere to directives from local authorities and the Civil Defense.
Continuous Surveillance by Authorities
The National Civil Defense Staff, in coordination with the Meteorology and Hydraulic Resources Institutes, remains vigilant in monitoring the cyclone's development to promptly enact further measures if required, as stated in the note.
