The Cuban-American congressmen, Mario Díaz-Balart and Carlos Giménez, have successfully retained their seats in the U.S. Congress. Representing Florida's 26th District, Republican Mario Díaz-Balart, the longest-serving member among them, secured 70.6% of the vote, outperforming his Democratic opponent, Joey David Atkins, a lawyer and sports agent, who garnered 29.4% of the votes. His district encompasses parts of Miami, Doral, Hialeah, and Miami Lakes, reaching into Collier County.
"It's an honor for me to once again represent Florida’s 26th Congressional District," Díaz-Balart expressed on his social media account, X. "In the 119th Congress, I will continue to advocate for responsible, conservative policies that save taxpayer money, support small businesses, back our courageous military and law enforcement officers, honor our veterans, promote energy independence, secure our borders, and protect our national security interests," the reelected congressman pledged.
Giménez's Victory in Florida's 28th District
Meanwhile, Carlos Giménez claimed victory for the Republicans in the 28th District with 64.4% of the vote, defeating Democrat Phil Ehr, who received 35.6%. This district includes parts of southern Miami-Dade County and Monroe County. "It's an honor to have been reelected with over 65% of the votes! Thank you, Miami and the Florida Keys!" Giménez shared on X.
María Elvira Salazar's Continued Representation
Also notably, Republican Representative María Elvira Salazar was reelected on November 5th to the U.S. House of Representatives. The Cuban-American will continue to represent Florida's 27th District, which covers areas such as Miami, Key Biscayne, Little Havana, Coral Gables, Kendall, and Cutler Bay. "Thank you to the voters of Florida's 27th District for sending me to DC for a third term. I will continue to be your voice and fight for you!" she communicated to her supporters on X.
