Cuban-American congresswoman María Elvira Salazar emphasized that prosperity is a universal desire shared by all people, including those in Latin America. The Republican politician, who secured her third term in the U.S. House of Representatives on November 5, highlighted that the citizens of Central and South America are no different from others—they are not aliens.
"Everyone wants prosperity, for their children to thrive, to have peace, tranquility, democracy, and the freedom to travel and pursue happiness in the best possible way," she stated. "From Washington, we have the ability to assist our neighbors and communities in achieving these goals, and to avoid the pitfalls of communism, which sounds great in theory but is disastrous in practice," she asserted.
Salazar pointed out that she is one of the most collaborative members in the lower chamber of Congress, working frequently with Democrats because she believes that American values serve as a unifying force between the two parties. "When a proposal benefits District 27 and the country, it doesn't matter who presents it. What matters is that it's beneficial for everyone," she emphasized.
Salazar will continue to represent Florida’s 27th District, which includes areas such as Miami, Key Biscayne, Little Havana, Coral Gables, Kendall, and Cutler Bay. Following the election results, she expressed her gratitude on social media, stating, "Thank you to the voters of Florida's 27th district for sending me to DC for a third term. I will continue to be your voice and fight for you!"
Plans for the Future
"We have a lot of work ahead: fixing the economy, reforming immigration, and combating socialism both domestically and abroad," she added. During her campaign, Salazar highlighted her experience, her well-known name in the community, and her support for former President Donald Trump, which earned her significant backing among conservative voters in South Florida. Upon learning of her victory this Wednesday, she sent her congratulations.
"What a country we have! Almighty God has shown compassion for the United States. Great things await the nation under its leadership. Moreover, Hispanics have recognized the benefits of voting Republican! Now the real work begins," she proclaimed.
