Cuban workers have successfully repaired the large hole along Havana's Malecón just before the impending arrival of Hurricane Rafael. The repairs were made on a section of the avenue between B and C Streets in El Vedado, a location prone to flooding during severe weather conditions.
Carlos Espinosa Betancourt, the administrator of the Facebook group 'Maravilloso Malecón', shared photos and a video showcasing the completed work. "I can assure everyone that the repair work carried out in the past hours has been successfully completed, eliminating the risk in that area for our community," he declared. Espinosa extended his gratitude to the workers and the Ministry of Transport for their dedication, noting their efforts came just in time before the city faces Hurricane Rafael.
Timing and Concerns
On Tuesday, Espinosa provided updates on the progress of the repairs via social media, expressing hope that the completed work would hold strong. However, some social media users voiced concerns, arguing that the timing of the repairs was not ideal. They suggested that the renovations should have been completed much earlier, rather than at the last minute before a cyclone's approach.
