Cuban comedian Otto Ortiz has once again brought laughs on social media with his witty comments about Hurricane Rafael and the stash of food he's gathered to weather the storm at home. Ortiz expressed his eagerness for the hurricane's arrival, humorously reporting that he's stocked up on "6 pounds of bread, three packs of soda crackers, a jar of mayonnaise, and 4 bottles of cola."
In a playful tone, he added, "None of that can be saved for the next hurricane. We've been waiting for two days; if you're not coming, let us know so we can dig in." His remarks quickly went viral, sparking humorous responses from other Cubans who admitted facing similar situations.
One user shared, "Yesterday, I bought a package of breadsticks and a jar of yogurt. My kids saw it and asked, 'Mom, is that for today's snack?' I told them noooo, that's for when the hurricane arrives. Hands off!"
The reality is that, given the circumstances in Cuba, basic goods like bread, crackers, and sodas are hard to come by and represent a significant financial burden for many. Having them at home is an irresistible temptation, knowing they should only be consumed in emergencies.
