In the aftermath of Hurricane Rafael, the Cuban government has reinstated train and bus services, which had faced significant disruptions and cancellations on Wednesday prior to the storm's arrival in the western part of the island. Minister of Transportation Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila provided details through a Facebook post, outlining the reestablishment of services as the nation enters a recovery phase.
Train Services Begin to Resume
The national and local passenger train services are gradually coming back online. Train 14, operating between Guantánamo and Havana, is set to resume on Thursday at 6:00 PM, while Train 17, running from Havana to Bayamo-Manzanillo, will also operate on its regular schedule. On Friday, Train 18 from Manzanillo to Bayamo to Havana will depart Manzanillo at 7:00 AM and Bayamo at 10:05 AM. However, Train 16 from Holguín to Havana remains canceled, as Train 15 from Havana to Holguín did not run on Wednesday. The gradual resumption of interprovincial and local trains depends on ensuring safe conditions for travel.

Maritime Operations Still Affected
Maritime travel between the ports of Batabanó and Nueva Gerona remains suspended until weather conditions improve. Passengers should stay in contact with Empresa Viajeros for updates. Minister Rodríguez Dávila noted that the ferry Perseverancia and three catamarans servicing the Isle of Youth were not significantly damaged by the hurricane. The port of Gerona and the vessels within it are reported to be in good condition.
