A year ago, a young Cuban named Aldo Góngora set out to improve his family's financial situation by moving to Nicaragua. Initially working as a barber, he soon launched a pork sandwich business called “Q’Rico Asere.” Góngora told Noticieros CDNN23, "The main goal was to bring my wife and daughter here."
His barber job did not bring in enough income to afford the travel expenses, prompting him to start selling pork sandwiches. After his wife joined him in Nicaragua, she became part of the new venture.
The Secret Behind His Cuban Pork Sandwich
Góngora shared that they began preparing oven-roasted pork following a traditional Cuban recipe that includes meat, a pickled cucumber, a pinch of salt, and “mojito” seasoning. Unlike other versions, he stayed true to the simple Cuban roots, which surprisingly resonated well with local customers.
"Thank God, sales have become quite stable. We have customers who come in the morning, in the afternoon, and it's going well," remarked the young entrepreneur.
A Taste of Cuba in Nicaragua
According to Góngora, purchasing his pork sandwich offers customers not just a unique taste but also a slice of Cuban culture. Regular patrons include people in cars, taxi drivers, and motorcyclists who stop to buy the popular Cuban dish, which he sells for 50 córdobas, as noted by CDNN23.
Recently, Góngora shared his inspiring journey of determination and hard work selling pork sandwiches and desserts on the streets. "This is my story, a Cuban with a dream, a need, but with a lot of faith," expressed Aldo Milanés, the protagonist of this motivating tale, in a video posted on TikTok (@aldomilanesz).
