Incoming U.S. President Donald Trump declared on Thursday that securing the border with Mexico will be a top priority when he assumes office again in January. In an exclusive interview with NBC News, Trump unveiled his strategy for widespread deportations, vowing to expel dangerous criminals such as murderers and drug lords, whom he believes do not belong in the United States.

Trump justified the deportation of these individuals, dismissing concerns over financial implications. "This isn't about cost. Frankly, we have no other choice. There are people who have killed and committed murder, drug kingpins who have wreaked havoc on countries, and they're going back to those countries because they won't stay here. It's not a matter of... it's not a matter of cost," he explained.

Focusing on Legal Immigration and Economic Growth

Moreover, Trump emphasized that his focus isn't solely on mass deportations. He aims to encourage the entry of individuals and businesses eager to contribute legally to the nation. "We want people to come. We're going to have many businesses coming to our country. We want companies and factories to establish here," he stated, highlighting that newcomers must enter legally and have no criminal background.

Emphasizing National Security and Legal Processes

The president-elect clarified that his immigration policy will target those posing threats to national security. He noted that voters aligned with his approach of deporting murderers, drug traffickers, and gang members, as these individuals should not be welcome in the U.S.

In his discussion with journalist Kristen Welker, Trump also referenced the support he garnered during the elections, specifically acknowledging the Latino vote, despite his previous anti-immigrant rhetoric. Trump attributed part of his electoral success to his strong stance on immigration, asserting that many voters favor secure borders and a lawful, orderly immigration process.

"They want borders and they like people coming in, but they must come with a love for the country. They must come legally," Trump said.
