Current Black Market Exchange Rates for Dollar, Euro, and MLC in Cuba

Sunday, November 10, 2024 by Zoe Salinas

This Sunday, the U.S. dollar (USD) is trading at 327 Cuban pesos (CUP) on Cuba's informal market, indicating a stable trend in recent days. This rate represents the current value of the American currency in a nation where acquiring dollars remains a significant challenge for most Cubans. The minimal fluctuation suggests a relative calm in national demand for the dollar.

In contrast, the euro is valued at 345 CUP, slightly higher than the dollar. The European currency has also shown a degree of stability, indicating consistent interest, although not as high as that for the dollar.

Meanwhile, the value of the MLC, the digital currency used in specialized stores for purchasing certain essential goods and appliances, is at 265 CUP. This digital currency continues to serve as an alternative for these purchases within the country.

Despite the inherent fluctuations of the informal market, all three currencies have maintained relatively stable prices, which might suggest a temporary economic steadiness on the island in the short term.
