Sunday, November 10, 2024 by Amelia Soto

Cuban comedian Limay Blanco, who spearheads the "Cristo Cambia Vidas" ministry, extended a heartfelt gesture by donating food items to the esteemed Cuban actor Jorge Losada. The actor, known for his roles in film, theater, and television, expressed his gratitude and emotion upon receiving the donation this past Saturday.

"Look who I met in person. Thanks to everyone who helped me deliver this donation, and to my friend José for his agency's role in allowing this donation to enter. Also, a big thank you to my friend, the owner of Perga sodas, and everyone who contributed. May God bless you all," Blanco shared on social media.

The donation, which included canned goods, food packages, sodas, hygiene products, and a Bible, was made possible by the generosity of the Cuban community in Miami. Blanco took the opportunity to express his appreciation to those who participated in this act of kindness, singling out the Cuban Ironman, the Facebook page 'Pesca en Miami,' and José González.

The Plight of Jorge Losada

At 91, Losada has faced numerous health challenges. Earlier this year, in April, he required hospitalization at Manuel Fajardo Hospital in Havana due to various medical issues. Back in February 2021, he underwent hip surgery, which led to complications and severe anemia. With the ongoing medicine shortages in Cuba, friends and relatives turned to the Internet to source the necessary medications for him.

Recently, it became known that Losada needed a wheelchair but was unable to afford one. Luis Lacosta, an art director at ICAIC who has assisted Losada in the past, revealed that the wheelchair was essential for Losada's mobility. In a matter of days, compassionate individuals from the Miami exile community rallied together, successfully sending both a wheelchair and medications to the actor.

Losada's Enduring Legacy

Despite his struggles, Losada continues to leave his mark on the Cuban entertainment industry. In 2023, he participated in the Cuban telenovela "Renacer," an experience he described as "unique." His enduring presence in the arts highlights his resilience and dedication to his craft.
