Second Earthquake of 6.7 Magnitude Strikes Eastern Cuba, Reports Seismological Center

The National Center for Seismological Research (CENAIS) has verified in a bulletin that a second earthquake, which occurred this Sunday at 12:49 p.m., registered a magnitude of 6.7 on the Richter scale. This tremor surpassed the initial quake recorded earlier at 10:50 a.m., which measured 6.0 in magnitude.

According to the CENAIS website, the seismic event originated at a depth of 10 kilometers and was located 32 kilometers southeast of Pilón, within the province of Granma. The center also reported that the quake was felt across several provinces, including Santiago de Cuba, Guantánamo, Granma, and Holguín.

As of the latest reports, there have been accounts of material damage in Pilón, though the full extent of the impact remains under assessment. The situation is still unfolding as authorities continue to evaluate the aftermath of this significant seismic activity.
