Sunday, November 10, 2024 by Alexander Flores

In a state of desperation, a Cuban resident from Granma province recounted the severe damage his community endured following a second earthquake that struck the eastern part of the island on Sunday. Through a video shared on Facebook by journalist Anolvis Cuscó Tarradell, the local resident vividly described the destruction left in the quake's wake, expressing his deep uncertainty: "This is ending here, it's over."

During a video call disseminated by Tarradell, the man from Granma showcased the wreckage caused by the earthquake, highlighting the profound impact on affected communities. It is important to note that two seismic events shook the eastern region of Cuba today. The first quake, registering a magnitude of 6.0 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 10:50 a.m. at coordinates 19.75 degrees north latitude and 76.91 degrees west longitude.

Following these quakes, damage has been reported in homes and state buildings across other provinces, including Santiago de Cuba. Tarradell himself posted on Facebook about the cracks in the walls of the Northern Children's Hospital, known as "La Ondy," that were caused by the seismic activity.

In the town of El Cobre, there have also been reports of damage from the earthquakes, including structural harm to the Logia No.2 de Caballero Masónica in Santiago de Cuba, which already had pre-existing damage.
