The mysterious disappearance of a couple in Santiago de Cuba has left their loved ones anxious and desperate for answers. It's been about a month since anyone last saw Eliset Pérez Díaz and her partner, Estermis Deodonis Batista, also known as “Tide Sax.” Their family and friends are urgently appealing for any information that could lead to their whereabouts.
Social media platforms have been abuzz with the news, highlighting the urgency of the situation. The gender observatory of the magazine Alas Tensas issued an alert on Tuesday, urging anyone with information to reach out via the phone number 54303041 or contact the local police.
Public Plea for Information
Clara Elena Castillo Areas was among the first to raise the alarm. In late October, she took to Facebook to seek help in finding Pérez, who is 43 years old. According to Castillo, Pérez was reportedly last seen in Havana, en route to the Isle of Youth, though this detail remains unconfirmed by other sources, who place the disappearance in Santiago de Cuba. Castillo implored those with any knowledge of Pérez's whereabouts to call her at (54303041), mentioning, “Her mother is frantic.”
Unanswered Questions and Growing Frustration
In a subsequent post, Castillo conveyed her frustration, stating that the disappearance has been “circulated in the country,” yet “neither the public nor the police have provided answers.” The profile “Reporte Cuba Ya” further emphasized that close acquaintances of the couple find it unusual for them to vanish without notice, causing significant concern among relatives and neighbors.
Despite reaching out to various institutions for assistance, no substantial leads have emerged regarding the case. Batista is known to be a musician, identifying himself as a saxophonist on his Facebook profile, though little else is disclosed about the couple.
A Growing Concern Across the Nation
Reports of disappearances have become alarmingly frequent in Cuba over the past year. Each week, social media is filled with pleas from families and friends seeking any information that might help locate their missing loved ones. This situation underscores the absence of an effective state-operated communication channel for such distressing events.
