Authorities in Harris County, Texas, are delving into a suspected murder-suicide following the discovery of a Cuban couple's bodies in an apartment located in the Katy area, west of Houston. The grim scene was uncovered on Saturday afternoon after family members requested a welfare check, having not heard from the couple since Friday evening.
The discovery took place in a residential complex at 19770 Clay Road, near Fry Road. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the call around 4:00 p.m. on November 9. Upon arrival, they found the lifeless bodies of a 48-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman. The pair, identified as Cuban nationals, were ex-spouses who had been married for nine years but were living apart at the time of the incident.
Preliminary investigations suggest the tragic event occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Evidence indicates that the man allegedly shot the woman before taking his own life. This theory is supported by the position of the weapon and other initial details from the scene, as confirmed by authorities.
Investigation Continues Amidst Uncertainty
Harris County Sheriff Ed González issued a statement acknowledging that while many details remain unclear, the investigation is ongoing, with efforts to gather additional evidence to shed light on the couple's final moments. González shared information about the case on social media, emphasizing that detectives are dedicated to collecting all available information to understand the factors leading to this heartbreaking outcome.
Officials reported that both individuals had a history of personal conflicts and tensions. The authorities highlighted that these issues, alongside their recent separation, might have been catalysts for the tragedy. The investigation is still active, and no further details will be disclosed until forensic analyses and a full reconstruction of events are complete.
Identities and Backgrounds Revealed by Reporter
Although authorities have not officially disclosed the identities of the deceased, crime reporter Niover Licea, through his social media channel "Nio reporting a crime," identified them as Delmis Marrero and Aida Esther Samón Castillo. Licea shared that, according to sources, the man was reportedly very jealous and had allegedly stated that if Aida left him, he would kill her, as he had brought her from Cuba to the United States.
"They had been separated for some time, and although they seemed to be attempting reconciliation, things weren't going well. Somehow, Delmis persuaded her to come to his apartment and then killed her," Licea commented. The YouTuber also noted that the woman's family had already deemed the relationship toxic due to frequent arguments. They contacted the apartment complex to request entry, unable to reach their relative since the previous day, despite knowing she had gone to Delmis' home.
It is alleged that the perpetrator left a note after the crime. As of the conclusion of this report, no additional confirmed details about the tragic event have been released.
