Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi, hailed by many as the greatest player in history, has vowed to return stronger in the upcoming season of Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States. This promise follows the unexpected exit of Inter Miami in the opening round of the playoffs.

In the face-off against Atlanta United, a best-of-three series, the team known as "The Herons" secured a 2-1 victory in the first game. However, they subsequently suffered back-to-back losses, 1-2 and 2-3, to a team that had barely made it through the play-in round in ninth place, ending a promising campaign for Miami.

A Season of Growth and Ambition

Despite the defeat, the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner shared his thoughts on Instagram, stating: "The season has ended, and we have continued to grow as a club. Although we achieved some goals, we aimed for more. Thank you to everyone who supported us. Now, we prepare to come back stronger next year."

Inter Miami, with Messi and his friend Luis Suárez as pivotal players, had been considered strong contenders to clinch their first MLS title following an impressive regular season where they set a new points record.

Future Opportunities on the Horizon

Despite their playoff disappointment, Messi and Inter Miami have been invited by the International Football Federation (FIFA) to compete in the 2025 Club World Cup.

With another year left on his contract, Messi wrapped up the season with notable individual achievements: 20 goals and 16 assists in 19 matches. This comes on the heels of celebrating Argentina's Copa América victory.

Focus Shifts to World Cup Qualifications

As the MLS season concludes for him, the left-footed forward has rejoined the national team to continue the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Currently, Argentina leads the qualifications with 22 points, ahead of Colombia (19), Uruguay (16), Brazil (16), Ecuador (13), and Paraguay (13), holding the top six spots in the standings.
