Is Cleaning Houses Embarrassing? A Cuban Woman in Miami Sets the Record Straight

Thursday, November 14, 2024 by Oscar Fernandez

A young Cuban woman, known as "La Cubanita Soñadora" on TikTok, made no apologies when someone questioned whether she felt "ashamed" to clean houses in Miami. In a candid video that has quickly gained thousands of views and reactions on TikTok, she responded with unfiltered honesty.

"Listen up, folks, I've got something to share that many might find amusing," begins @laflaki1304. After posting a video of herself at work, someone asked her, "Aren't you embarrassed to clean houses?" Without missing a beat, she fired back, "What? Embarrassed? I'd be ashamed if I had two hands, two feet, and resorted to selling my body to make a living. That would be truly shameful, not to others, but to myself!"

Her straightforward and determined tone made it clear that she finds nothing shameful about earning a living through cleaning. "I'll keep cleaning houses, and I hope more people reach out for my services. If you need your house cleaned, contact me, and I'll give it a Cuban-style cleaning."

Support and Praise Pour In

Her bold response sparked a wave of support in the comments section. Many people rallied behind her, sharing their own experiences. One user wrote, "I've cleaned houses, clinics, banks, and even cared for the elderly. Shame is having no money or resorting to theft; working honestly and living from your own sweat is nothing to be ashamed of." Another added, "Shame is left behind; for our families, we do what we must, and we take pride in it."

Numerous comments praised her attitude. "You are amazing, much respect"; "People need to mind their own business, honest work is work"; and "Shame is not having money to pay the bills. You're a warrior, nothing to be ashamed of!" were just a few of the supportive messages she received.

Encouragement and Humor

Some even offered advice for greater success: "Try the cleaning business and start a company; there are many clients in Miami, go for it!" Meanwhile, others humorously recalled how "La Cubanita Soñadora" crossed borders to be where she is today: "Hey, tell me, what are you doing crossing that wall like that?"

The video by @laflaki1304 continues to gather support and laughter, showcasing that for many, dignity and pride lie in honest effort, not in the type of work one does. Let the Cuban-style cleanings continue!
