Thursday, November 14, 2024 by Sofia Valdez

On Wednesday, Gente de Zona and David Bisbal paid tribute to Carlos Vives, who was celebrated by the Latin Recording Academy as the 2024 Person of the Year. The vibrant performance by Alexander Delgado, Randy Malcom, and the Spanish singer took center stage in Miami Beach at the 25th edition of the Latin Grammy event dedicated to the Colombian artist.

The evening kicked off with David Bisbal delivering an energetic rendition of "Fruta Fresca," one of Vives' hit songs, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Moments later, the Cuban duo joined him, igniting the stage and getting the audience on their feet. Together, they delivered an electrifying performance, showcasing exclusive hip movements as Carlos Vives enjoyed watching his song come to life through the voices of his fellow artists.

Unable to resist the energy, the honoree himself, Carlos Vives, jumped on stage to share the dance floor with Alexander, Randy, and Bisbal. "Very happy and honored to pay tribute to a teacher and artist I admire greatly," Alexander shared on Instagram, accompanied by several photos of the performance.

Throughout his 30-year career as a singer and songwriter, Carlos Vives has been awarded 18 Latin Grammy Awards and two Grammy Awards. The awards ceremony for the 25th edition of the Latin Grammy will take place tonight at the Kaseya Center in Miami, featuring nominations for several Cuban artists.
