Marianela Ancheta is all set to dazzle at the Miss Universe 2024 preliminaries, a pivotal evening where the fates of 127 contestants will be determined for the grand finale on November 16 at Arena Ciudad de México. From the early hours, the vibrant young woman from Villa Clara was brimming with energy, ready to captivate the audience and judges alike.
"Today, Cuba will grace the Miss Universe stage after so many years of being absent. This opportunity was denied to us... just like many others. We are making history! The excitement I feel is overwhelming... a rush of adrenaline, honor, and pride. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey and to all my supporters. Today marks one of the days I've worked so hard for. Every time you see me step onto that stage, know that I carry all of you with me," Marianela shared on her Instagram.
Wearing a short light blue dress adorned with feathers, sequins, and sheer elements, the model once again garnered thousands of likes and countless comments. Yet, nothing thrilled her fans more than the traditional outfit she will showcase at tonight's pageant.
Embodying Cultural Heritage
"Oshún is one of the most revered Orishas in Cuban Santería, rooted in the Yoruba religion of West Africa. She embodies love, fertility, beauty, sensuality, and fresh waters, especially rivers. Oshún is seen as a nurturing, kind, and protective deity, yet she can be strong and resolute when needed. She symbolizes the joy of life and prosperity, and is often called upon for assistance in matters of love, health, and wealth," the young contestant explained on the same social media platform.
The choice of attire for this preliminary round speaks volumes about her heritage: "For many Cubans, Oshún also symbolizes the ability to overcome challenges with grace and resilience, traits many associate with the Cuban spirit. Her traditional colors are yellow and gold, and she is said to favor honey, pumpkin, and cinnamon. In popular culture, Oshún has become a symbol of identity and pride, especially for Afro-Cuban communities."
The Cuban contestant will take the stage tonight in traditional dress, swimwear, and evening gown. How do you feel about Marianela Ancheta's presence at the Miss Universe 2024 preliminaries?
