A horrifying incident has left the community of Maisí, Guantánamo, in shock after a 30-year-old Cuban woman was savagely murdered by her partner. Reports from social media reveal that the assailant used a machete to carry out the brutal attack.

The victim, Daynilis Lobaina Torrell, was a mother to two young daughters, approximately 14 and 9 years old, who are now left without their mother. The suspect, identified as Ridelkis Guilarte Castillo, also known as "Jicarita," remains at large, evading justice.

Community Reeling from the Tragic Loss

Users across social media, including neighbors and family members of the victim, have expressed their horror and grief over the vicious nature of the crime. Guilarte Castillo has been described by an anonymous online source as having an explosive temper and a problematic disposition.

Graphic images related to the crime have been circulating online, prompting calls for their removal out of respect for the victim's family. Guilarte Castillo is rumored to have a history of illegal activities, including involvement in the "bolita" lottery and cattle slaughter.

Family and Friends Demand Justice

Daribel Lobaina Torrel, a cousin of the deceased, took to Facebook to describe the attack as merciless and inhumane, recounting how the victim was struck repeatedly with a machete. She emphasized the need for the perpetrator to face severe consequences for his actions.

Felix Ramos Torrel, who participated in the victim's autopsy, shared his disbelief and condemnation, stating that in all his years working in the morgue, he'd never witnessed anything so heinous. He extended his condolences to the grieving family, insisting that even death would not be sufficient punishment for the crime committed.

Calls for Action and Justice

The online community has been inundated with messages of sympathy for Daynilis's family, alongside demands for justice to ensure the murderer is apprehended and held accountable. Despite the widespread outrage, feminist platforms have yet to comment on this particular tragedy.

This week, the Alas Tensas Gender Observatory and the YoSíTeCreo en Cuba platform reported an increase in the number of femicides, raising the count to 46 this year alone. This follows a similar case earlier this month in Santa Clara, Villa Clara, where another Cuban mother was killed by her ex-partner, leaving two more children without their mother.
