On Friday, residents of Havana took matters into their own hands by capturing a young man accused of mugging teenagers in the street. The incident was brought to light by Facebook user Martin Serrano, who posted photos of the individual restrained by the community, bound hand and foot, as they awaited the arrival of the police.
Serrano described the young man as a "criminal-minded youth" who, in broad daylight, attempted to rob his daughter and three of her classmates from Simón Bolívar High School in the Santos Suárez neighborhood, located in the Diez de Octubre municipality.
Community Action and Parental Concerns
According to Serrano, the accused, along with an accomplice who managed to escape, threatened his daughter and her friend with a knife, ultimately stealing two mobile phones from them. This brazen act has sparked outrage and concern among local parents.
The father urged others to spread the word about the incident to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of teaching children and teenagers to be wary of unfamiliar individuals who might approach them.
"He's not a minor; he's 18 years old. He must face the full force of the law," Serrano emphasized, underlining the need for accountability and justice.
