An unsettling incident of insecurity took place this past Friday in Holguín, where a Cuban man's motorcycle was stolen merely a day after he advertised it for sale. The owner had posted on social media about selling the vehicle, not anticipating that it would soon become a target for thieves.

According to the report, the theft was carried out by a pair described as "a dark-skinned man and a black-haired woman in ripped jeans," at the 18-story building in Holguín. "They headed towards the beach road via the roundabout," stated Osbel Ochoa, a friend of the victim, in several Facebook groups.

Motorbike's Details and Theft Concerns

The for-sale post, shared in the Facebook group "Motorinas y Triciclos Holguín," described the motorcycle as an original EM 50S with a new battery still under warranty. Additional features included levers, handlebar covers, mirrors, bearings, skins, electrical installation, stand, paint, wrapping, box, and maintenance.

The owner urged people to be vigilant for any suspicious offers of his motorcycle on the black market and to report any relevant information to the phone numbers 50110513 and 55315721.

Rising Trend of Vehicle Thefts

This incident has sparked concern among Cubans, who have reported an increase in vehicle thefts, particularly motorcycles, in recent months. Another individual commented that last Saturday, they too had their motorbike stolen in Holguín. This person, originally from Las Tunas, traveled to the neighboring province to sell it, only to have it taken near the Santiago-Habana terminal. Additionally, they mentioned that the same had happened to another young person from their locality. "Sadly, the police have yet to take action," they concluded.

These thefts are not limited to the eastern province; similar crimes have been reported in other parts of the country. In September, a Cuban mother in San José de las Lajas, the capital of Mayabeque province, reported her motorbike stolen while dropping her daughter at school. Furthermore, just days ago, suspected thieves of an electric motorcycle in Diez de Octubre, Havana, were caught on surveillance cameras from homes in the area.
