Tragic Accident in Holguín: Eleven Injured as Tractor Plunges from Bridge

On Saturday night, a serious traffic accident occurred in the municipality of Moa, located in Holguín province, when a tractor carrying eleven individuals, including three children, fell from a bridge near the Ernesto Che Guevara mining company. This incident has once again highlighted the precariousness of transportation in Cuba.

According to reports from the Provincial Health Directorate of Holguín, the accident prompted an immediate response from combined rescue forces from the Pedro Sotto Alba and Ernesto Che Guevara industries, along with Comando 30. Their swift actions were crucial in rescuing the occupants of the overturned tractor.

Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported, although every passenger sustained injuries. The director of the state-run radio station La Voz del Níquel, Camilo Velazco Petittón, provided a list of the injured individuals, who are currently receiving care at the Doctor Guillermo Luis Fernández Hernández-Baquero General Hospital in Moa.

Injured Passengers and Their Conditions

Those in serious condition include: Richelmi Calderón Acosta, 37, from San Germán; Ricardo Enrique Zaldívar, 46, from Armando Mestre; Yaima Mendoza Naranjo, 37, from San Germán; Yordanis Batista López, 46, from Armando Mestre; and Alexa Pérez Bidé, aged 4, from San Germán.

Passengers reported to be in stable condition are: René Linares Rodríguez, 69, from Armando Mestre; Jorge Zaldívar Ramos, 73, from San Germán; Aliannis Alpajón Domínguez, 34, from Armando Mestre; Nélida Álvarez Gómez, 68, from Armando Mestre; Bleimar Muguercia Palomo, 13, from Armando Mestre; and Samuel Zaldívar Mendoza, 14, from San Germán.

The exact reasons behind this unfortunate accident remain unknown at this time. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
