In Miami Beach, the pet-friendly trend is gaining momentum with the addition of two more dog-friendly beaches this month. These new spots join the established Bark Beach in North Beach, allowing dogs as long as owners adhere to strict regulations. As of early November, dogs are now also welcome in select areas of South Beach and Mid Beach, as reported by the City Manager's Office.
"Bring your pup to the beach! Miami Beach now boasts three 'dog beaches,'" proclaimed the City on its official social media platform, X. At South Beach, the sandy area in front of 21st Street is open to four-legged visitors every day of the week. The hours are from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. from November through March, and from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. from April to October. Similarly, dogs are allowed in the Mid Beach area at 53rd Street during the same time slots throughout the year.
North Beach's 81st Street, which already welcomed pet visits, has expanded its hours. From Friday to Sunday, dogs can enjoy the beach from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. during November to February, and from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. from March to October. The City Manager's Office noted that these dog-friendly areas are selected for their low density of sea turtle nests, according to a report by Telemundo 51.
A post from Greater Miami and Miami Beach's website advises pet owners to bring ample water and waste bags, making sure their dogs don't overheat in Miami's warm climate. The tourism site suggests other canine-friendly beaches in the "City of Sun," such as Haulover Beach Park and Hobie Beach, in addition to North Beach Oceanside Park's Bark Beach. InfoNegociosMiami also lists these three as top dog-friendly beach destinations in Miami.
An increasing number of locations in Miami are embracing pets, including bars, restaurants, shopping centers, parks, hotels, and beaches. This shift acknowledges that pets play an integral role in the lives of their owners.
