Meteorologist Raydel Ruisanchez issued a warning on Monday about an impending cold front set to hit Cuba in the coming days. This weather system is expected to bring showers, thunderstorms, and a noticeable drop in temperatures.

According to details shared on Facebook, a prefrontal band is anticipated to arrive by Wednesday, increasing the likelihood of showers and storms in the western region. This weather pattern will gradually move across the country, spreading intense rainfall to other areas.

By Thursday, a cold and dry air mass will begin to infiltrate the island, leading to unusually low temperatures for this time of year. As the weekend approaches, the chill will become more pronounced, with colder nights and early mornings, signaling the onset of winter-like days in Cuba.

Prepare for a Cool and Dry Weekend

Ruisanchez emphasized the importance of retrieving warm clothing and getting ready for a cool and dry weekend. He commented that “a dry and cold winter is expected.”

Over the past weekend, temperatures dropped significantly, reaching chilly levels in many inland areas, with figures nearing 55 degrees Fahrenheit (13°C). Notably, Cuba recorded a historic low in February, with a minimum temperature of 41 degrees Fahrenheit (5°C) in Bainoa, a town in the province of Mayabeque.
