Cuban actress Diana Rosa Suárez, who had been in the intensive care unit at Havana's Cardiovascular Hospital due to an ischemic event, has surpassed the critical stage, even though she remains hospitalized. Sports journalist Julita Osendi shared that Diana Rosa's condition has significantly improved, and she has been transferred to a regular room. "Out of intensive care. The Zorro's sweetheart, at 80 years young, isn't giving up. Good for her!" she posted on Facebook.
Over a week ago, the celebrated actress suffered an ischemic attack that worsened her health while she was recuperating at the Cardiovascular Hospital from a heart attack she experienced in Guyana. She had been admitted to a public hospital in the capital, Georgetown, following the heart attack.
Diana had traveled to Guyana for a visa appointment at the U.S. Embassy. During her stay, doctors revealed she had not only suffered a heart attack but had also endured a similar cardiac event three months prior. Consequently, she was advised to have a month of complete rest.
The Cuban Embassy in Guyana announced that the actress was taken to Georgetown's public hospital, where she was visited by the ambassador, who promised to monitor her health condition closely. Late October reports confirmed her discharge from the South American hospital, but there was no information about her return to Cuba.
With a prolific and popular career, the actress was hoping to secure a visa to reunite with her grandchildren and nieces in the United States. Born in Havana's Luyanó neighborhood, Diana Rosa Suárez marked her 80th birthday on August 30, celebrating with a grand party surrounded by fellow artists and friends, including Tahimí Alvariño, Paula Alí, Verónica Lynn, Néstor Jiménez, Mario Aguirre, Héctor Noas, Miriam Socarrás, and Gretel Cazón, as well as host Marino Luzardo and singers Beatriz Márquez and Héctor Tellez.
