Severe Earthquake Strikes Again in Granma and Santiago de Cuba
Description not available

A 4.2 magnitude earthquake was felt across multiple municipalities in the Granma and Santiago de Cuba provinces shortly after 6 a.m. this Tuesday, as reported by Enrique Diego Arango Arias, Chief of the National Seismological Service at the National Center for Seismological Research (CENAIS).

Arango Arias specified that the tremor struck at 6:11 a.m. and was noticeable "in various locations within Granma province and the municipalities of Guamá and Santiago de Cuba." The earthquake's epicenter was located at latitude 19.75 north and longitude 77.23 west, approximately 20.51 kilometers southwest of Pilón in Granma, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

"It was strong, but quick," commented one resident online, confirming the tremor, while others in the area reported not feeling it but expressed concern over the increasing seismic activity in recent days.

CENAIS mentioned on their website that since the 6.0 and 6.7 magnitude quakes on November 10, a total of 4,559 aftershocks have been recorded. Out of these, the entity noted that "106 have been presumably perceptible," with the most recent one at 6:11 a.m. today being reported as "strongly felt" at a magnitude of 4.2.
