Social media has erupted following reports of an alleged relationship between Ana de Armas and Manuel Anido Cuesta, stepson of Lis Cuesta and close advisor to Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel. The popular magazine ¡Hola! revealed that the Cuban actress was spotted with Anido Cuesta at a restaurant in Madrid, igniting a flurry of reactions online.

Political and Socioeconomic Backlash

The connection between the Hollywood star and a figure associated with the Cuban regime has sparked intense debate among Cubans. Lianet Hernández, a social media user, criticized the relationship from an ethical standpoint: "Imagine being in Hollywood, surrounded by many people, a beautiful woman who can have other prospects, and ending up with a man linked to those who cause suffering in your country. I'd rather stay single. I'm sorry, but as a Cuban, I can't imagine associating with such people."

Others, like Ernesto García Torres, highlighted concerns about the misuse of resources tied to the regime: "The issue isn't who she's kissing; the issue is that she's there with the Cuban people's money."

Sarcasm and Scornful Remarks

Sarcastic humor and personal judgments have also fueled the online conversations. Qvano Libre jokingly suggested, "She should get her taste fixed, statuniña." Meanwhile, Elena Arzola expressed distrust towards entertainment figures: "Remember, she's part of the Hollywood elite, a nest of corrupt, leftist, socialist, and communist people."

Another comment from Maydel Suárez quipped, "Anita, Anita... from Ben Affleck to this corn cob, it's a long stretch. You're losing your taste."

Principles and Political Reflections

Beyond personal attacks, some Cubans emphasized the political implications of the relationship. Victor Manuel González labeled Ana de Armas as lacking principles: "It was known since July 11. She's a climbing opportunist without principles."

Similarly, Alexander Ribalta commented, "It's clear where Anita stands. Accomplice of the cruel Cuban dictatorship."

Calls for Privacy Amidst Criticism

Despite the overwhelming criticism, a few voices have urged respect for the actress's private life. Lilian Guerrero expressed, "Well, what's the problem? Ana de Armas can be with whoever she pleases." However, these defenses are in the minority against the tide of negative comments accusing the actress of being out of touch with the Cuban people's reality.

The Public-Private Dilemma

This controversy not only brings Ana de Armas's personal life into the spotlight but also highlights the tensions between the Cuban diaspora and connections with regime-associated figures. For some, this romance is seen as a betrayal of the freedom values cherished outside the island. For others, it underlines the challenges of being a public figure with roots in a polarized nation.
