The well-known street vendor from Holguín, affectionately referred to as "maní por mony (money)," has shown signs of improvement after suffering a cerebral ischemia and has been moved out of intensive care, though he remains hospitalized.

His daughter, Elizabeth Estrada, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported the family during these challenging times. "Today, with great joy, I can announce that our dear father has left the intensive care unit and is now in the geriatrics ward, room A, bed 3. Anyone wishing to visit and offer their well-wishes for his continued recovery is welcome," she shared on the Facebook group "REVOLICO HOLGUIN AQUÍ NO SE VENDEN PAPAS."

The post received over 300 comments from well-wishers celebrating the recovery of the elderly peanut vendor, a cherished figure among the people of Holguín for many years.

Community Rallies to Support Beloved Vendor

Last week, Elizabeth reached out on Facebook asking for help in selling the roasted peanuts her father had been unable to sell due to his illness. She explained that only by selling all the stock, priced at 260 pesos per pound, could she recover the investment her father had made while he was unable to conduct his usual street sales.

The community responded swiftly. One user, Roberto Ricardo, urged others to lend their support: "Let's all support 'maní por mony' so we can continue to see the best peanut vendor, a part of Holguín's culture, get back on his feet," he wrote.

Several individuals promptly purchased the peanuts, with some even sharing photos of themselves buying from the popular vendor, who holds a special place in the hearts of Holguín's residents.
