Yordenis Ugás Criticizes Ana de Armas Over Relationship with Díaz-Canel's Stepson

Boxer Yordenis Ugás has strongly criticized Ana de Armas following reports of the actress's romantic involvement with Manuel Anido, the stepson of Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel and son of Lis Cuesta. Ugás expressed disappointment that de Armas not only refrains from publicly denouncing the dictatorship but appears willing to associate with Díaz-Canel's family.

"This girl's behavior is so disgraceful. She doesn't condemn the dictatorship, doesn't speak out for our political prisoners, and now she's becoming part of the family that oppresses and degrades our people and our country," Ugás commented on a CiberCuba news article about the situation.

Historical Context and Continued Criticism

Ugás also recalled that the actress's own brother was once interrogated by the regime, highlighting the personal stakes involved. The boxer did not miss the opportunity to criticize certain viewpoints among Cubans on the island who defend the actress's relationship. "Reading some of the comments, it's shocking to see many Cubans, even those living in Cuba with limited internet access, justifying this. What a lack of shame and dignity some Cubans have! It's so tragic and appalling," he concluded.

This is not the first time Ugás has voiced his disapproval of Ana de Armas. In February, following her visit to Cuba, Ugás lamented that someone as famous and influential as her had not spoken out about the island's dire situation. In an interview with the Pichy Boys, he stated that "the girl is not committed" to the events in her homeland.

Public Reaction and Media Confirmation

Yordenis Ugás, a prominent Cuban exile, uses his international platform to openly oppose and denounce Cuba's dictatorship. In contrast, Ana de Armas has maintained silence on the government, a stance for which she has faced significant criticism. The Spanish magazine ¡HOLA! recently confirmed, with photos, the romance between de Armas and Díaz-Canel's stepson. The couple was spotted strolling through Madrid, dining at a high-end Italian restaurant, and even sharing a kiss.

Manuel Anido, who has a law degree, reportedly serves as an "advisor" to his stepfather. He has been seen accompanying Díaz-Canel and Cuesta on several official trips, including visits to the Vatican and the United Arab Emirates. Earlier this year, Alexander Otaola hinted at the romantic connection on his YouTube show, predicting it would become a major news story once confirmed. What was once dismissed as mere rumor has now become reality.
