Romance Between Ana de Armas and Díaz-Canel's Stepson Sparks Meme Frenzy

Wednesday, November 20, 2024 by Isabella Sanchez

The Spanish magazine ¡HOLA! has confirmed the surprising romance between Cuban actress Ana de Armas and Manuel Anido Cuesta, the stepson of Miguel Díaz-Canel. In response, social media platforms have been flooded with memes mocking and satirizing this unexpected relationship.

Influencer Edmundo Dantés Junior took to Facebook, sharing a photo from ¡HOLA! where he replaced Manuel Anido with a figure of Raúl Castro. He added a humorous caption: “What part of infiltrating Hollywood without drawing attention did you not understand, darling?” His post insinuated a conspiracy involving Ana de Armas and the Cuban regime, presenting a playful narrative of her journey from Cuba to Hollywood.

Dantés Junior continued the satire with another meme, depicting a fictional relationship between Ana de Armas and Lis Cuesta Peraza. "After all, Ana de Armas's silence wasn't accidental," stated influencer Paparazzi Cubano on Facebook, alongside an image of the actress being "honored" by the Castro regime, titled ironically as "Family Portrait."

Miami-based actor and comedian Adrián Mas, known for his sketches and the character Channel, a parody of Díaz-Canel, also joined the conversation. He shared a video imitating the Cuban leader's reaction to the romance, humorously commenting on family dynamics and hinting at insider knowledge.

Meme Culture Takes Aim at Cuban Politics

Meanwhile, a Facebook user known as Kuba King contributed to the viral meme storm with an image inspired by a famous Cuban cartoon, capturing the news of Ana de Armas’s relationship with the stepson of Lis Cuesta. The meme humorously questions why the actress is being metaphorically burned at the stake, with a character responding, "She did something wicked; she's dating the stepson of the Sin-Gao."

Marcus Blank Espinosa echoed this sentiment with another meme. It shows Ana de Armas and Manuel Anido Cuesta at a dinner, where he humorously frets about revealing his lack of housing. Her response, "Love, when will you take me to your parents' house?" adds to the comedic narrative.

Adding to the satire, Cardin.Ja, a social media profile known for its humorous critiques of the regime, published a satirical video in which Ana de Armas seemingly gives a tongue-in-cheek account of her romance with Manuel Anido.
