Shock Among Cubans Over Footage of El Taiger Shooting Incident

Thursday, November 21, 2024 by Ava Castillo

On Thursday, startling footage emerged showing the moment Damián Valdez-Galloso shot El Taiger in the head, stirring both shock and outrage among the Cuban artist's followers. The security camera footage reveals the reggaeton singer arriving at Damián's residence, knocking on the door, and then immediately collapsing after being shot.

Telemundo 51 shared the explicit video on Instagram, prompting numerous reactions from viewers: "He was waiting for him, had it all planned, didn't give him a chance"; "Unbelievable, the cold blood is otherworldly, so frustrating"; "Speechless, he went straight for the head, he should never leave prison"; "He was waiting. You don't just shoot like that. First-degree murder and maximum penalty for Valdez-Galloso. Justice"; "Incredible, he was waiting and it's clear he arrived unarmed, so he can't claim self-defense"; "What frustration, this heartless man, how could he do that, my God, Damián deserves the death penalty, he planned this in cold blood, and El Taiger had no idea."

Public Outcry and Calls for Justice

On CiberCuba's Facebook page, hundreds joined the chorus demanding justice for José Manuel Carbajal, with many arguing that the killing was premeditated and that Damián Valdez should face first-degree murder charges. Others noted the video's harshness, especially for El Taiger’s children, who might one day see it. Comments included, "In that video, it's clear it was just seconds, and as soon as he knocked, he was shot... it was premeditated, he was waiting"; "It's obvious there was premeditation. El Taiger knocked, and upon opening the door, he was killed without hesitation, he was lying in wait"; "How sad. Such things shouldn't be shared publicly; he has children and family, and it must be devastating for them. Nobody knows the trauma this could cause his daughters"; "And yet he shamelessly pleads not guilty, justice for José, and let the full force of the law fall upon him," expressed some in the comments.

Legal Proceedings and Public Sentiment

On November 21, Damián Valdez-Galloso was supposed to appear in Miami-Dade court but failed to show. His attorney informed the judge that Valdez-Galloso pleaded not guilty, further fueling the indignation among El Taiger's supporters.
