A patient from the psychiatric hospital in Las Tunas managed to escape due to extreme hunger and neglect, ultimately seeking help from a local family for food.

A Facebook user, known as Chankletera Kolorá, recounted that on Friday, she opened her door to find a young man, approximately 20 years old, on her porch. He was in dire need of clothing and nourishment. Despite her initial fear of potential violence—given that her husband was out buying bread and she was alone with her children—she chose to assist him.

"That's why he sat down. And I was able to take this photo," she explained.

The young man revealed to her that he had been a patient at the Hospital for Mentally Ill, but had left due to severe hunger and lack of visitors. The photos showed him in the hospital's standard attire, but the good Samaritan clarified that he left her place wearing a pair of shorts and a dark blue t-shirt she had given him.

"He appeared confused and hungry. I thought he might be aggressive, but he wasn't... he calmed down and sat waiting. Where he went after, I can't say; he left quickly," she added.
