Following the revelation of the romance between Ana de Armas, the face of luxury brand Louis Vuitton, and Manuel Anido Cuesta, stepson of Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel, Cuban-American philanthropist, entrepreneur, and influencer Taty Guiribitey sent a protest letter to the company. Known as "La Mamilover" on social media, Guiribitey and her family, including her daughter Camila, are among the top clients of the esteemed French fashion house.
"I sent them a letter saying that, as of today, I remain a customer, but until they remove Ana de Armas as the face of the brand, they can count me out," Guiribitey stated during an interview with Alexander Otaola. She emphasized, "I'm not their most important client, and Bernard Arnault won't go bankrupt because of me. However, they will lose a significant amount because I do spend a lot, a lot, really a lot with them. At least they'll feel that loss."
Expressing the importance of customer respect and appreciation, Guiribitey disclosed that she directed her letter not only to the US branch of Louis Vuitton but also to the European headquarters. "You know why they don't go under? Because we Cubans aren't united," she asserted, convinced that the only way to boycott Ana de Armas is through collective action.
Beyond flaunting exclusive pieces of the French brand, some of which never hit the market and are unique items, Taty and Camila Guiribitey hosted an elegant reception last September at the Louis Vuitton store in Madrid before the baptism of little Alma. This summer, they also visited the exclusive Louis Vuitton castle, a venue reserved for the world's most select guests.
