The family of a Cuban resident in the United States, who has fallen into a vegetative state after suffering severe strokes, is appealing for financial assistance to bring him back to Cuba, where his mother can care for him. Forty-two-year-old Yuderkis Aldana Rosa has been hospitalized in the U.S. for several months. His relatives have turned to social media seeking help to transport him to the island, allowing his mother to tend to him during his final days.

In a recent Facebook post, Lisandra Rodríguez explained that “the family lacks the necessary funds” to cover the costs of flying the patient with specialized medical care. She added that there is also a need for medical supplies for his treatment. Rodríguez provided the phone number (754) 316-9087 for those interested in more details about the case or willing to donate via the Zelle platform.

“Any assistance is appreciated,” she stated. “Anyone who can help, please contact me. Every dollar counts.”

Community Efforts and Prayers

At the end of October, Serafín Rosa Rosa, Aldana's uncle, also sought help in the Facebook group “Daddy Yankee Cristiano Oficial.” He explained that his nephew has been in critical condition for the past four months.

“Pray for the health of my nephew Yuderkis Aldana Rosa, who has been gravely ill in the United States for four months with two massive strokes, at Memorial Hospital in Florida. We don’t have the funds to cover the hospital costs or to bring him to Cuba,” he said at the time.

Rosa highlighted that the family, described as "poor and rural," finds themselves in a dire situation. They have reached out to various entities in Cuba and the U.S., as they lack the resources to afford the flight and transport him to the island.

Challenges Faced by Cuban Immigrant Families

Families of Cuban immigrants residing in the U.S. or other countries who have fallen ill or passed away often face the challenge of raising funds to cover hospital expenses or to repatriate their loved ones. This situation underscores the financial and emotional difficulties that many immigrant families confront when dealing with medical emergencies abroad.
