Jeep and Motorcycle Collision Claims at Least One Life in Santiago de Cuba

A severe traffic accident took place on Saturday involving a jeep and a motorcycle, resulting in at least one fatality. According to an eyewitness account shared on the Facebook group "ACCIDENTES BUSES & CAMIONES por más experiencia y menos víctimas!", the incident occurred around 4:45 pm near La Maya in the Songo-La Maya municipality.

The witness reported that both the jeep and the motorcycle plunged down a slope after the jeep suffered a tire blowout. "I don't know the exact details. There were several injured. At the time of the accident, there were no deaths," stated Roy Baracoa, a user who witnessed the event. "I assisted a young man in near-critical condition to the local hospital. He arrived alive," he added.

Community Reactions and Official Statements

In the comments section of the post, several group members claimed that the motorcycle's rider, a young military officer from Guantánamo, had died. "Sadly, my cousin Álvaro Loyola, an officer of the Border Brigade, passed away, along with another young man who was also believed to be an officer of the BF," shared Leandro Martínez Bombalé, a native of Guantánamo.

Rafael Tola León, who identifies himself on Facebook as the head of the Emergency Medical Service Base of MINSAP in the Santiago province, confirmed that the accident resulted in two deaths and one individual critically injured.
