Eduardo Antonio and Niurka Marcos: Uncovering the Allegations of Addiction During Their Relationship

Monday, November 25, 2024 by Claire Jimenez

Recent statements by María Medina, who claims to be a former manager of Eduardo Antonio, have stirred some controversy in the media and on social platforms. Medina alleged that the Cuban singer, also known as El Divo de Placetas, struggled with a severe drug addiction and that Niurka Marcos was also using drugs during their time as a couple.

The artists were quick to respond to these accusations. In an interview with Telemundo, Eduardo Antonio denied Medina's claims, stating she was never his manager but merely an acquaintance who helped them like an assistant. "Do you think at this point in my career I need to clarify anything about my life, which is so public? This face, this hardworking man could be an addict? I am addicted to myself, to shopping, and to being happy," he declared.

When asked if he would take legal action against María Medina, the singer dismissed the idea, downplaying her accusations by recalling an incident where she allegedly took a photo of him in intensive care and made it public. "She won't become Yolanda Saldívar, and I won't be the Cuban Selena. When people become obsessed, one must be cautious and keep a distance, which is what I did. I have a 40-year career—what haven't they said about me?" Eduardo Antonio asserted.

Niurka Marcos's Outspoken Reaction

Niurka Marcos, known for her fiery personality, had a less composed reaction when confronted by the press. Dubbed "The Scandal Woman," she retorted, "It's a waste of time to tell a nonexistent person like her 'give me a drug test,'" followed by a series of insults directed at Medina in front of cameras.

Support from Colleagues and Friends

In response to the allegations, a former colleague of Eduardo Antonio defended him on Instagram, stating, "I know him well and worked as his assistant in Mexico. The only thing he was addicted to was shopping and dining at nice restaurants, where he often invited me because he was always a generous boss and friend. Eduardo is a genuinely kind person who helps others, even if not everyone appreciates it, as seems to be the case with this person I don't know but whom Eduardo likely helped. He always tries to assist others because he has a big heart, and that's why things go well for him."
