A motorcyclist, critically injured in an accident last Wednesday on Aguilera Street in Santiago de Cuba, passed away this Sunday. The deceased, identified as 45-year-old Robelis Adames, reportedly collided with the perimeter wall of the Cultural Plaza on the same street, according to journalist Yosmany Mayeta on social media this Monday.

Tragically, Robelis Adames was riding a motorcycle carrying a nurse who was delivering medication to another individual injured in a separate serious accident. The intended recipient of the medication on November 20 had been involved in a triple motorcycle collision on the busy Trocha Street.

Adding to the misfortune, shortly after the accident involving Robelis Adames was reported, Mayeta Labrada revealed the alleged theft of the injured nurse's purse, which contained the crucial medication. Fortunately, it was later updated by the journalist that the purse and medication were recovered. However, the current condition of those injured in the triple accident remains unknown.

At the time of this report, there is also no information on the health status of the nurse who was injured in the Aguilera Street accident. Robelis Adames' body is being mourned at the Santiaguera funeral home, with plans to transport his remains to his hometown of Dos Caminos.

Community in Mourning

The death of the motorcyclist has sent shockwaves through his family and friends. In recent weeks, there has been a notable increase in traffic accident reports in Santiago de Cuba. Many attribute this surge to the rise in non-functioning traffic lights caused by ongoing power outages, which heighten the risk of road accidents.
