Authorities in Miami-Dade are on the hunt for Zeniel Francisco Cabrera Talavera, the alleged perpetrator in a fatal hit-and-run incident that took place on November 11 in the Redland area of Miami-Dade County. The tragic accident claimed the life of Alexis Muñoz, a 46-year-old Cuban father of three who had arrived in the United States just six months earlier, hoping for a better future.
Investigators suspect that the 25-year-old suspect may have fled to Mexico following the accident. The Miami-Dade police are also searching for an accomplice who assisted the driver after the crash. This individual, known as "Rabiche," is described as a man between 50 and 60 years of age.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in this case. Sahyli Brito-Martínez, the victim's wife, made a heartfelt plea during a press conference, urging the public to help locate the responsible party. "We came from Cuba like many others, with dreams of a better life," she stated, as reported by Telemundo 51. Through tears, Brito-Martínez implored anyone with knowledge of Cabrera's whereabouts to notify the police immediately. "He was a great man; he didn't deserve this," she added, referring to her deceased husband and the father of her youngest child, a three-year-old boy.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The collision occurred at approximately 5:55 a.m. on November 11 at the intersection of 208th Street and 194th Avenue in southwest Miami-Dade. On that morning, Muñoz had just dropped his wife at her workplace and was stopped on a scooter, waiting to make a left turn towards his own job, when he was struck by a gray Ford truck.
According to Detective Michael Quiñones, who specializes in traffic homicides, the truck attempted to overtake Muñoz on the right, hitting him with a trailer and trapping him beneath it. After the crash, the driver exited the vehicle, removed Muñoz's body, and fled the scene with the help of "Rabiche," who picked him up in a red truck.
Individuals with pertinent information are urged to contact the police at 305-471-2425.
