During a recent conversation with the residents of Lajas, Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel broke his silence regarding the outcome of the U.S. presidential election, which confirmed Donald Trump's return to the White House. In his remarks, Díaz-Canel noted that the election results did not come as a surprise to the Cuban government.

Predicting the Impact on Cuba

"We had anticipated this scenario," he stated, alluding to the potential consequences for Cuba, which faced harsh sanctions under Trump's previous administration. Cuban-American congressman Mario Díaz-Balart had already foreseen a tightening of Trump's policies towards Cuba and Venezuela during an interview with journalist Mario J. Pentón.

Stricter Policies Ahead

Díaz-Balart indicated that the new Republican administration would impose tougher measures against both regimes, focusing particularly on U.S. national security and immigration policy. A vocal critic of the Cuban regime, Díaz-Balart warned of a "dramatic shift" in U.S.-Cuba relations during Trump's second term.

Ensuring Compliance with U.S. Laws

The congressman stressed that the Trump administration would not allow the island's regime to utilize resources to "harm the United States" or to continue "oppressing its own people." He also predicted that Trump's administration would take direct action against those violating U.S. immigration laws, including deporting individuals linked to oppressive regimes like Cuba's.

In conclusion, Díaz-Balart delivered a strong message to critics of the United States, highlighting that those anxious about Trump's policies have valid reasons to be concerned. "This administration will enforce the law and will not tolerate further breaches of immigration rules," he asserted.
