In a heartfelt prayer shared on social media, the Archbishop of Santiago de Cuba has sought comfort and strength for the Cuban people as they navigate the current adversities. Posted on Facebook, the prayer expressed gratitude for the presence of Jesus within families, among compassionate neighbors, and in those who selflessly serve others, highlighting love and faith as essential forces for overcoming difficult times.

The prayer shed light on the daily struggles of mothers striving to feed their children, of individuals relentlessly searching for medicine for the sick, and of families dreaming of their imprisoned loved ones' return. It acknowledged those mourning the emigration of family members, victims of violence and theft, and those facing both material and spiritual shortages.

Appeal for Unity and Peace

The Archbishop issued a call for unity, urging the Holy Spirit to inspire all Cubans to live harmoniously, respect differences, and collaboratively find solutions leading to peace and well-being. He stressed the importance of working together to achieve a dignified life in every aspect: "To be born in peace, to work in peace, to eat in peace, to die in peace."

Within his message, he also invoked the intercession of the Virgin of Charity of El Cobre, reminding of her role as the protective Mother of Cubans. With words of faith and hope, he encouraged people not to fear and to trust that divine assistance can help overcome the adversities plaguing the nation.

A Message of Hope in Difficult Times

This prayer arrives at a critical juncture for Cuba, where economic and social challenges have deeply impacted the lives of its people. The Archbishop's words aim to console and fortify the faith of believers, offering a beacon of hope amidst uncertainty.

Recently, at the feet of the Virgin of Charity of El Cobre, Archbishop Dionisio García Ibáñez of Santiago de Cuba prayed fervently for those in the country suffering from the effects of emigration. "For the workers striving to provide a decent home for their loved ones; for those mourning the emigration of spouses, children, grandchildren, friends," García expressed during a supplication prayer, as reported by the Archdiocese of Santiago de Cuba on Facebook.
