A Cuban man tragically took the life of his five-year-old son on Tuesday morning in the Minas municipality of Camagüey. The heartbreaking incident was confirmed by multiple social media reports and the child's mother, Keilin Torres Varela.
In a desperate appeal circulating on social media, the mother urged anyone who sees the suspect, identified as Alieski Martínez Ferrer, to report him immediately as he is currently evading justice. She wrote, "If anyone sees this monster, please let me know urgently at this number. He is dangerous, he killed my son. The pain is unbearable! I beg you to have mercy for my son. This man must face justice for his heinous act."
Details of the Crime
Young Edgar Aliesky Martínez Torres was under the care of his maternal grandmother when his father came to pick him up. Although he had already planned to commit this horrific act, the family never anticipated he would harm the child. The father strangled the boy and, during his escape, allegedly attacked a pregnant woman on her way to a medical appointment, assaulted her, and stole her cellphone. The victim is reportedly in critical condition at the Maternal Hospital of Camagüey.
The child's mother is under police protection after the suspect threatened to harm her as well. A Facebook group called "Crímenes en Cuba" suggests that the motive behind this monstrous crime was the mother's refusal to continue her relationship with the man.
Community Response
Independent journalist José Luis Tan Estrada reported for Cubanet that this horrific incident took place precisely in the San Ignacio area of the Minas municipality in Camagüey. According to local residents, the suspect had previously attempted to murder his ex-partner after she ended their relationship.
Tragically, this is not the only filicide reported in Cuba in recent days. In a separate incident, a 17-year-old identified as Jader Machado Fis was murdered by his father in Las Tunas. Social media reports indicate that the father stabbed the teenager in the neck. Despite emergency surgery, the teenager succumbed to his injuries due to cardiac arrest.
