Young Man Succumbs to Injuries Following Severe Crash in Santiago de Cuba

A Cuban man, who was critically injured in a devastating traffic accident early Tuesday on the National Highway, passed away this Wednesday, according to an update shared by journalist Yosmany Mayeta on social media.

The deceased, identified as 35-year-old Guillermo Aguilar Fonseca, also known as "Guille," was driving a modern white car when it was involved in a serious crash between the municipalities of San Luis and Palma Soriano in Santiago de Cuba. At the time of the accident, Aguilar Fonseca was accompanied by his wife, who also sustained injuries.

The exact cause of the accident remains unclear, and it seems no other vehicle was involved in the incident. After struggling for more than a day in the hospital, the young man is believed to have died late Wednesday afternoon.

Community Mourns the Loss

A brief video posted on Facebook this week by Mayeta Labrada revealed the shocking condition of the wrecked vehicle, which was completely destroyed, particularly on the driver's side. The tragic death of Guillermo Aguilar Fonseca has sparked a wave of grief and sadness among his friends and family.

Accident Site Conditions Under Scrutiny

According to local sources, the crash occurred on a hazardous and poorly lit section of the highway. As of the closure of this report, there are no updates on the medical status of Aguilar Fonseca’s wife.
