Cuban in Lehigh Champions His Quality of Life Over Miami: "I Get Paid in Dollars Just Like You"

Friday, November 29, 2024 by Isabella Rojas

The ongoing debate over which U.S. city offers the best living conditions continues to spark discussions, particularly among the Cuban community. Recently, TikToker Ernesto Zaldívar, known online as @ernestozaldivar0, joined this perennial argument by sharing a video comparing his life in Lehigh Acres, Florida, with that of those living in Miami.

“To all the Miami haters who criticize Lehigh’s countryside: do you know how much I pay for this efficiency here? 900 bucks. Do you know how much you’d pay for a similar spot in Miami, even in the back of a house? 1400 or more,” he stated while showcasing his home.

Advantages of Lehigh Acres

Zaldívar also pointed out other benefits that he believes make Lehigh Acres a superior choice. “Here, I can bring my girl over whenever I want, and it doesn’t cost a cent; there, you take her out on a Saturday and they want to charge you 200 bucks extra,” he remarked. He further noted that Lehigh has the same fast-food chains like McDonald's and Taco Bell, and salaries are identical: “I get paid in dollars, just like you do.”

Mixed Reactions and Heated Opinions

His post quickly garnered attention and sparked a range of reactions. One user commented, “My dear, everyone lives where they like, why all the comparison?” Supporters of his stance chimed in, with comments like, “Haha, that’s right, bro, enjoy.” However, criticisms were not far behind: “Was there a need for a video like this? Live where you want and forget about others, nobody’s paying your rent.”

Some took the opportunity to joke, saying, “Lehigh is now called LeHialeah, it’s the same thing,” while others questioned his motives: “What makes you think that causes envy?” There were also defenders of Miami: “Those of us who live in Miami can afford it. There’s nothing wrong with living in Lehigh Acres, but I know many there who pay for a house because they earn well.”

The post has reignited the enduring debate between those who prefer the bustling pace of cities like Miami and those seeking the peace of areas like Lehigh Acres. As one user aptly commented, “Everyone lives where they can... that’s not envy, young man.”
